One of the more unusual uses of an Overland was in 1911 when Milton Reeves used a 1910 model to create his eight-wheel Reeves Octo-Auto. Overlands continued to be produced until 1926 when the marque was succeeded by the Willys Whippet. This 1911 Overland Model 49 touring car was purchased by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Foundation in January 1968 out of Evansville, Indiana. The vehicle was displayed at Tony Hulman’s Early Wheels Museum in Terre Haute, Indiana, until the 1980s and was subsequently incorporated into the IMS Museum collection, where it spent the past decade on display for the IMS Museum’s “Basement Mannen sitter i en Overland modell 59 Touring som inregistrerades den 11 december 1911.
